The case for debate
05
Why debating & public speaking?

Six things a debate round teaches that a textbook can’t.

01

Strengthens leadership

Learning to take the floor, own a position, and guide a room toward a decision.

02

Enhances communication

Structuring thoughts on the spot and saying them clearly, to any audience.

03

Boosts confidence

Comfort thinking and speaking under pressure, without a script.

04

Critical & analytical thinking

Weighing both sides of an argument before forming and defending a view.

05

Persuasive speaking

Building a case with evidence and delivering it convincingly.

06

Inspires lifelong growth

Skills that keep compounding long after the debate round ends.

The roadmap
From first meeting to showcase

A clear journey that takes every student from orientation to a stage.

01

Orientation

We meet with school authorities, then run an orientation session for students.

Week 0
02

Classes run

Regular classes for 3–6 months — a semester — on the school’s own calendar.

One semester
03

Culmination

Every student gets a platform to showcase their growth.

Areas of focus

Four strands, one curriculum.

01

Static GK

Interactive video lectures and notes covering school needs as well as geopolitics, economics, law and world history — easy, digestible content that builds a strong base.

02

Debate theory

The basics of debating in clear steps: Parliamentary and Oxford formats, motion analysis, argument building and delivery.

03

Debating practical

Real debates with speeches, rebuttals and cross-examination. Mock rounds with live feedback that sharpen skills and prepare students for competition.

04

Extra classes

Special sessions for top contests like Harvard, Oxford and the World Scholar’s Cup — advanced motions and strategies for an international level.

What the fee actually buys

Inside every class hour.

01

A certified trainer, in person

Every session is led live by a Taivas-certified trainer — never a recording, never a worksheet left with a teacher.

02

The full curriculum on the LMS

Static GK library, video lectures, motion banks and notes — every student gets a login, and the trainer builds on it in class.

03

Mock rounds with feedback

Students debate every week. Speeches, rebuttals and cross-examination, with the trainer scoring and correcting in the room.

04

Progress reported to the school

Attendance, participation and a skills rubric per student, sent to the coordinator every month — not a certificate at the end.

05

A showcase on campus

The term ends with a Showcase Debate at Lancers — parents in the audience, every student on stage.

06

The pathway beyond

IIT-campus bootcamps, the National Speech & Debate Championship, and prep for Harvard, Oxford and the World Scholar’s Cup.

Commercial structure

Two ways to fund it.

Model 01 · School-Funded · B2B

Lancers runs it as part of its own curriculum offering.

₹60,000per batch,
per month
25–30 students a batch8 classes a month4 on campus + 4 online60 minutes each

The fee is borne by the school. The programme sits inside the timetable as one of Lancers’ curriculum offerings — the whole batch attends, and there is no parent-side enrolment to run.

What this works out to: ₹2,000–2,400 per student a month, or ₹250–300 a class, with a certified trainer in the room and everything on the previous page included.
Model 02 · Student-Funded · B2B2C

Lancers provides the space and access; families enrol directly.

3-month partnership
₹7,500per student, for the term
Full course
6-month partnership
₹12,000per student, for the full course
₹2,000 a month · ₹3,000 less than two terms

Same batch, same rhythm, same trainer. The school opens the programme to its students and gives us a room and a slot; Taivas runs registration, collects fees from parents and reports back to the school.

Lancers carries no cost. A batch forms once 25 students enrol; the school’s only role is the space, the slot and the introduction.
Same trainers · same curriculum · same showcaseThe two models differ only in who pays. The classroom is identical.
